Xavier Coumoul is head of the Toxicology course at the University of Paris and heads the INSERM METATOX team whose main theme is the characterisation of the mechanisms of action of environmental pollutants. The team is interested in the exposome by developing in vitro predictive toxicology tests, by characterising the role of the context (nutrition, social stress) in the effect of pollutants, by identifying new pathological models in relation to pollutant signalling and by producing in silico systems biology tools in a predictive toxicology framework. He has participated in numerous expert activities, notably for INSERM, and has just been elected chair of the FEBS networking group and member of the executive committee (European Society of Biochemistry).
