Thierry Naas has more than 20 years of experience in the field of antibiotic resistance, in particular in β-lactam resistance mechanisms. He has contributed to the characterisation of the most important and clinically relevant carbapenemases from several aspects: structure-function, biochemistry, epidemiology and genetics. He leads the "Resist" research team of the University of Paris Saclay - Inserm within the Inserm Unit 1184. In addition, through his clinical functions at the microbiology laboratory of the Bicêtre Hospital and his activity as director of the French National Reference Centre (CNR) for carbapenem resistance in Enterobacterales, he has direct and daily interactions with clinical issues of antibiotic resistance.
