Sophie Ramananarivo is a researcher at LadHyX*, and assistant professor at the Department of Mechanics of Ecole Polytechnique (IP Paris). After a PhD in fluid-structure interaction at ESPCI-Paris, she pursued her research as a postdoctoral fellow at the AML laboratory of the Courant Institute at NYU (New York), and then at the Department of Physics at UC San Diego. In 2017, she joined Ecole Polytechnique as an assistant professor. Her research focuses on the interaction between deformable or moving objects and their fluid environment (such as air or water). Currently, she is studying how to control and program the deployment of flexible surfaces in wind or current, by introducing folds or cuts.
