Since then, she has been working on multi-node quantum networks, using nitrogen vacancy centres in diamond as nodes. Sophie Hermans often gives talks to a variety of audiences, ranging from secondary school students to people interested in technology. She is also one of the Faces of Science nominated by the KNAW (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences) and has been nominated for inclusion in EW magazine's '30 under 30' list of outstanding talents.
