Pavla Debeljak holds a PhD degree in Environmental Science from Sorbonne Université as well as a Master’s degrees in Ecology and Science & Technology Studies from the University of Vienna, Austria. She is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Systematics, Ecology and Evolution, Division of Bioinformatics, National Museum of Natural History. Her scientific background spans both academia and industry in the fields of microbial ecology. Her research interests include the deep ocean, carbon cycling, microplastics and the Southern Ocean. Her research is interdisciplinary and focuses on microbial ecology, genomic data, the question of unknowns in biology, applied bioinformatics and marine biology. Her research projects within the Collaborative Food Engineering Research Laboratory at Sup'Biotech focus on the study of the soil microbiome and the implications for agroecology through the application of high throughput sequencing tools.
