Olivier Guerin was appointed University Professor in 2011 and Head of the Acute and Therapeutic Geriatrics Department in 2013, and has been Head of the Rehabilitation Autonomy and Ageing Department since 2015. Strongly committed to digital health and autonomy, he and his teams have created evaluation and experimentation platforms dedicated to these aspects. He was deputy mayor of Nice, in charge of health, prevention and support for loss of autonomy, and metropolitan councillor from April 2014 to June 2020, in charge of health, prevention and autonomy issues. He is also active at national level, as President of the Société Française de Gériatrie et Gérontologie in 2018 and as an expert for the Cour des Comptes on the prevention of loss of autonomy in 2020. He is also involved in molecular biology research alongside Pr Eric Gilson at the Institut de recherche cancer et vieillissement de Nice (IRCAN, a university/INSERM/CNRS research center). He became a member of the French President's Scientific Advisory Board, as part of the COVID health crisis in 2020. Since July 2023, Prof. Olivier Guerin has been President of the Conseil National Professionnel, Spécialité Gériatrie (CNP-SG).
