Mickaël Campo is a lecturer at University of Burgundy's Faculty of Sport Science and President of the French Society of Sport Psychology (SFPS). Holder of a doctorate in psychology, a habilitation to direct research in sports science, and a 2nd degree state rugby certificate, he has over 20 years' experience in the field of sports psychology, using an approach that draws on scientific knowledge from the field of social psychology and applies it to the context of high performance. A specialist in the field of team sports psychology, he created the French Rugby Federation's Pôle de préparation mentale et d'accompagnement de staffs (Pôle PMAS) after working for several years in a TOP 14 club. He is currently in charge of the FFR's project to develop and structure mental preparation. As mental coach to the French rugby team XV and the French Olympic men's rugby 7s team, he has supported the coaches of all the French rugby teams in their performance projects, including preparation for several World Cups (XV, XV fem, 7s, u20s), 6 Nations tournaments and Olympic Games.
On the research front, Mickaël Campo is interested in the influence of group dynamics and social cognition on the emotion-performance relationship. He is currently a member of the Rugby Science Network of the international rugby federation(World Rugby) and heads the TEAM SPORTS program, which aims to provide scientific support to team sports federations (FFF, FFHB, FFBB, FFVolley and FFR) in optimizing group dynamics with a view to the 2024 Olympic Games.
