After studying theoretical physics at the University of Orsay and the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Cachan, Jérôme Ogée went on to complete a postgraduate diploma (DEA, formerly a research master's degree) in meteorology and oceanography at the University of Toulouse, followed by a doctorate in bioclimatology, also at the University of Toulouse. After completing his thesis, he worked as a contract researcher at Laboratoire des sciences du climat et de l'environnement (LSCE), before being recruited by INRA (now Inrae) in 2004 to work on the interactions between climate and vegetation, where he is still employed. During his academic and professional career, he has also worked abroad, at Trinity College Dublin (4 months), the University of California at Berkeley (1 year) and the University of Cambridge in England (1 year).
