Jan A. Piotrowski is Professor of Quaternary Geology at Aarhus University, Denmark, and Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland. He studied Geology at the University of Warsaw, Poland (B.Sc.), University of Waterloo, Canada (M.Sc.), and Kiel University, Germany (Ph.D., habilitation). His interests cover various aspects of the Quaternary period with focus on past ice sheets and the deposits and landforms they left behind. Through combining fieldwork, laboratory experiments and numerical modelling, his research addresses the interactions between ice sheets and their beds to better understand the processes of glacial erosion, transport and deposition in the context of global environmental changes.
