Douglas Powell, PhD is the Director of the Breast Biomechanics Research Center (BBRC) in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Memphis. With a stated mission of "Improving women's health through the science of biomechanics", the BBRC has several areas of research focus addressing distinct aspects of women's health from sports bra performance, spine health, 3D breast ultrasounds and more. Dr. Powell has training in the areas of biomechanics, engineering, neuroscience and exercise physiology. His primary area of research focus pertains to women's health with specific emphasis on the role of the female breast in women's health. His current research foci include investigating the influence of breast support on breast motion, physical activity, and health and wellness as well as the secondary influences of breast support on sport performance and injury biomechanics.
