Professor emeritus at Sorbonne Université and a member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques, Daniel Andler began his academic career as a mathematician and was subsequently appointed as professor of philosophy of science at various universities. He is chiefly interested in cognitive science and artificial intelligence, and in their impacts on education, collective decision making and public policy. He was the founder and first director of the Department of Cognitive Studies at École normale supérieure in Paris. His latest book is Intelligence artificielle, intelligence humaine: la double énigme, which the magazine Lire ranked among the 100 best books of 2023.
