Bertrand Decharme is CNRS Research Director at the Centre National de Recherches Météorologiques (UMR 3589) of Météo-France and CNRS. Trained as a physicist, his research focuses on the interactions between climate and continental surface evolution on a global scale, particularly from the point of view of the continental water cycle. More specifically, it studies the processes intrinsic to continental surfaces, from local to regional scales, in order to model them as effectively as possible on a global scale in climate and/or hydrometeorological models. Over the past fifteen years, he has made a major contribution to the development of the "Earth System" climate models used at the Centre National de Recherches Météorologiques (CNRM), in particular by leading the "Earth System Studies" team in his laboratory. He is the author or co-author of some 100 scientific publications in international journals (https://www.umr-cnrm.fr/spip.php?article807).
