Amaury François is a Research Fellow at Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle de Montpellier. Trained as an electrophysiologist and behaviorist, he quickly became interested in the study of the somatosensory system and the integration of tactile information. After a thesis on the excitability of neurons responsible for pain transmission in Montpellier in 2013, he worked for 4 years on the top-down control of pain and endogenous opioids at Stanford University in Gregory Scherrer's team. Since his recruitment to the CNRS in 2018, he has been working on the integration of affective and social touch at the level of the cortex.
