Alexandre Pons graduated from the Bordeaux Faculty of Oenology in 2000 and joined the Seguin-Moreau cooperage in 2002 as a researcher on secondment to the Faculty of Oenology. In 2006, he obtained his doctorate in oenology on the theme: "Research on the aroma of premature ageing of wines", the results of which were rewarded with the Grand Prix de l'Académie Amorim. Since 2017, he has been contributing his expertise to the "Technology" expert group of the Institut des sciences de la vigne et du vin. Recently, he has been collaborating with the company DIAM Bouchage, a subsidiary of the Oeneo Group, on issues relating to the control of the quality of ageing of great wines in bottle. Author of some forty publications in international journals, his research activity focuses on the characterisation of the molecular determinants of oxidative phenomena that cause changes in the aromas of grapes, oak wood and wines.
